green goddess: kale, 1/4 grapefruit, almond milk, coconut butter

Today was a lazy kinda day I guess. I did get to the gym and gave my legs a break by doing cardio on the elliptical machine (32 minutes, moderate – vigorous intensity) and caught up on my Wife Swap — why do I LOVE that show? Jeez.

HTB was kind enough to get me some plastic bins from the Wal-Mart so that I can begin the process of decluttering the house (much to his excitement, haha) so I got started on that this evening…

It’s honestly a daunting sort of task, but I’m hitting it room by room, and last to go is the 2nd bedroom, which has literally been napalmed with my clothes. It’s a mess. And I can’t even find anything good to wear. šŸ™‚ So that’s next on the list. My mother has cancelled her birthday trip up here for the weekend (sadness!) but that will just give me more time to devote to cleaning up this place before school starts up again. Behold, the befores and afters! Check out the Before and After shots.

  1. Okay, so what’s the verdict on the ‘green’ drinks – which one is better (more tasty?)?

Well, first off, my blender is kind of on its last leg — I really need a vita-mix! Because of that, I wasn’t able to get the kale to puree as smoothly as I would have liked, which resulted in a slightly chewier consistency than I’d prefer! The taste was good though. My spirulina smoothie is purely amazingly delicious though, and SO good for you. It’s basically 1 tsp spirulina powder, 3/4 cup lite almond milk, 1 tsp almond butter, a handful of frozen goji berries, ice, and a smidgen of agave for sweetness. I’ll keep playing around with the kale though, as I like the idea of having those fresh greens! I hear that a banana does wonders, but I do not like bananas šŸ˜¦
