raw vegan love

So, Grezzo did not disappoint. First of all, I was so so so happy that HTB agreed to eat our Valentine’s lunch there, because while he’s not opposed to veggies, he’s definitely a carnivore and found it both weird and fascinating that an entire restaurant wouldn’t cook their food or serve meat. It was a first time experience for both of us though, so I think that made it like an adventure.

To start with, I ordered the gnocchi with peas and “rawmesan” sauce:

Topped with micro greens and eggplant bacon. At first I was a little upset, because it wasn’t a whole bunch of food! But since the gnocchi were made from cashew, they were rich. Rich and delicious.

Next, we had cocktails. They had both beer and wine (organic) and a slew of interesting cocktails, all made with either sake or kombucha.

My Lemon Drop. Delicious. Next, on to main courses. HTB ordered the Greek Pizzetta and I ordered the California Maki Roll. One made-up word for you: FOODGASMS.

Oy vey. Okay, so my maki roll had cucumber, avo, and sprouted quinoa “krab.” It was freakin’ amazing. They made this spicy mayo sauce out of coconut milk and it was SO spot on. I was dying over it and it was plenty of food. Especially delicious too, was the housemade fermented cabbage slaw. gasm.

HTB’s pizza was also delicious. He said it was surprisingly good. The cashew cheese was fantastic and I feel badly that I forgot to buy some “to-go.” Next time!

After this, of course, it was time for dessert. I asked our server: What’s the best chocolate thing?

Why, the brownie sundae!

For some reason, my flash wouldn’t work, so I apologize for the darkness. But OMG. So it was a delicious dense and fudgey brownie made from figs and raw cacao, topped with chocolate chip coconut milk ice cream, topped with ooey gooey chocolate sauce and shaved macadamia nuts. …..Yes. Life was good.


Then, HTB opened his gift. I’m so broke these days, I couldn’t afford what I really wanted to get him, so I decided to go the romantical route. What he got me will be a whole other post, because it’s that fantastic 🙂

Anyhow, here he is checking out the “book”…

Haha, not exactly. I basically made him a “love book,” where I create entries here and there listing reasons why I love him, etc. I already filled out one page for him. I know it’s super sappy, but hey… sometimes you need a mush in your life! He said he loves it, and it’s sitting on his nightstand so, score one for me!

We had a fantastic weekend. The aquarium didn’t happen because for some reason, it was literally JAM PACKED. As in, a line snaking around the block just to get into a tent to buy tickets and wait in line more. I was disappointed, but I really didn’t want to freeze my face off for 2 hrs to elbow my way through an aquarium. So, HTB said we’d pick a weekday and he’d take a halfday, and we would have our fish-day 🙂

We ended up heading home after a while to walk the pups, and then hitting a few nearby restaurants/bars for some chatty time and drinkypoos. We had a wonderful time, and had some great conversations about the upcoming craziness that will soon be our lives. Suffice to say, I’m really excited and feel very blessed to have such a sweetie and supportive partner.

Currently I’m at HTB’s office and we are crankin’ out some work before we hit the gym. I hope you’re all having a lovely Monday and those of you who have work off, I hope you’re having a super relaxing day!

  1. Wow, that meal looks amazing!! I don’t think I could get my hubby to eat the raw food that I do– good job! Looks like you two had a great Valentine’s Day. 🙂

    Can’t wait to hear what he got you!
