Hiya there, been a while! I’ve been laying low and trying to kick this sickypoo slump I’ve been in, and I’m happy to say that I am feeling almost totally normal this evening. In fact, I’m already planning on attending Zumba toning in the morning. Can’t wait!
We did some low-key things this weekend. On Friday we saw Shutter Island, which I enjoyed immensely. I was never a big Leo fan, and when he did that movie The Man in the Iron Mask, and didn’t even try to have a French accent, he kinda annoyed the crap out of me, but it seems he’s matured into a pretty darn good actor! I thought he was great in it, and even enjoyed the Boston accent. We saw The Crazies this evening as well, and it was OK. I’m not going to rant and rave about it, but it wasn’t awful. And anyway, I went for Timothy Olyphant. 🙂
On to the eats. I hit the Whole Foods early Saturday morning and filled up on some hardcore veggies, which my system was seriously in need of. I determined that I made myself sick last weekend while in PR by eating highly processed, fat, sugar-laden food. My poor body was in shock. Since I got back I’ve been infusing myself with Green Goddesses, and it’s paid off!
And then the Green Goddess to top all Green Goddesses:
I know all my green potions look the same, but this baby made me feel SO good after I drank it.
- 2 cups baby spinach
- almond milk
- 1 tsp raw cacao
- 1 tsp fresh ginger
- 2 tsp maca
- agave nectar
And that brings me to my next topic/fasciation: maca. It is literally all over the bloggies lately, so I decided to chisel into my poor pocketbook and try some out. Verdict? I freakin’ love it. It has a malty-caramel flavor to it, that tastes amazing in smoothies. Like a malted milkshake. I adore it. What I’m also digging is that it claims to have some great health benefits, including increased libido. I haven’t really gotten into it on here, but my hormones have been quite out of whack since I’ve kicked the birth control habit in September, and let’s just say that I could use a little help straightening things out. Exciting things coming up this week! My first dress fitting is in NYC on Friday, and dinner at Angelica Kitchen to follow. I have been craving their Dragon Bowl and sesame sauce since High School, so consider me completely stoked. I’ll also be hanging out in CT over the weekend to do dress shopping with my sister (also my MOH!) and start the hunt for the perfect blue satin heel for the wedding. I have decided my “something blue” will be my shoes. All that happens at the end of the week, so before we get there, I’ve got a forklift worth of homework to do, since I become a total slacker when I get sick. Yay.
